Service Environment & Applications
Where and why these are used
Ceramic saddles are specifically engineered for environments where polymer or metal packings would fail due to heat or chemical degradation.
1. Corrosive Chemical Processing
Ceramic saddles excel in acidic environments. They are the primary choice for:
Sulfuric Acid Plants: Used in drying towers and absorption towers (H2SO4 production).
Nitric Acid Processing: High resistance to oxidative acid environments.
Chlorine Gas Cooling: Handling wet chlorine and hydrochloric acid vapors.
2. High-Temperature Operations
Unlike plastic packing which melts or deforms, ceramic maintains structural integrity at extreme temperatures:
Thermal Oxidizers: Used in RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer) systems for VOC treatment.
Heat Recovery: Storing and transferring heat in industrial furnace exhausts.
3. Mass Transfer
The unique “saddle” shape prevents nesting and ensures high fluid turbulence with low pressure drop.
Scrubbing Towers: Removing SOx, NOx, and other pollutants from flue gas.
